Local Landing Pages: How to Make Them Useful, Not Repetitive

Practical guidance for better search and website decisions.

← All insights

A useful local landing page explains a genuine difference in how a service works in a place. A series of pages that changes only the suburb name can frustrate visitors and compete with the business’s own stronger page.

Decide whether a separate page is needed

Start with a strong main service page and clear service-area information. Create a location page when you can add distinct value: local project examples, travel or service arrangements, relevant requirements, customer questions or a different offer. If the information would be identical, an extra page may add little. Map the query and intended page before publishing.

Write for the customer in that area

State what service is available and where the business operates. Explain practical details rather than repeating the location in every heading. Do not claim a local office or projects that do not exist. If a business serves Brisbane from one location, the page should represent that accurately. A customer should know whether a visit or remote consultation is possible.

Use evidence responsibly

Genuine photographs, case studies, testimonials with permission and clear service details can make a page useful. Avoid fabricated reviews or borrowed local landmarks intended only to appear relevant. Strong evidence helps a customer decide whether the business has experience with their problem. Even a small specific example is better than a long page of interchangeable location phrases.

Avoid internal competition

Map the primary service query to one main page. A suburb page should answer a narrower location-specific need and link back to the core service. Check Search Console to see which page appears for each query; several near-identical pages swapping positions may signal unnecessary overlap. Review titles and headings for duplicated claims.

Measure and maintain

Review the page’s queries, qualified enquiries and accuracy. Update examples and coverage when operations change. If a page does not serve a distinct need, consider folding its useful information into the main service page and redirecting only after checking that no important demand would be lost. Confirm the redirect and internal links after a merge.
